Mike started serious art study in 2013. Although he dabbled in it earlier in life, he put it aside for a twenty year period to raise a family. Painting is in his genes as his grandfather was a painter in the 70's and he still has the easel that he once used in his studio. Oil painting has now become a passion for him.
Mike has taken classes and workshops from some of the best artists in the seacoast area. Karen Blackwood, Todd Bonita, Chris Volpe, David Lussier, Dennis Sheehan, and now Sean Beavers at Sanctuary Arts in Eliot, Maine.
While being mostly a studio painter, he has experimented with Plein Air painting off and on over the last couple of years. His primary focus has been landscapes/seascapes, but in 2016 he embarked on an artistic journey to capture the beauty of the human figure both abstractly and realistically on canvas.
The artist's work can be found in private collections in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and West Virginia. He lives in New Hampshire with his wife and youngest son.
